About us
Thomas
T.S.Barrows & Son was founded in 1935 by Thomas Sydney Barrows, grandfather of the present partners. He was apprenticed to a Mansfield Cabinet Maker Frank Moss in May 1905. "To serve him for five years and two months until he was twenty one years old". After 50 years in the business he died in 1967.
Rex
Hamlyn Lodge was created in 1972 when after 37 years of trading in Mansfield the second and third generation of Cabinet Makers, Rex and Norman Barrows moved to the Welbeck Estate (ancestral home of The Duke of Portland).
Rex's younger son John joined the business in 1976.
Sadly Rex died in 1991 leaving Norman & John to continue in the family business

In July 1981 when the lease expired at Welbeck the business moved to an 18thC converted farmhouse in Ollerton Village, which is now the present workshop.
Here we specialise in the restoration of furniture from all periods, the making of bespoke furniture and the refurbishment of architectural woodwork and interiors.
