Previously converted into a sewing table, unfortunately extensive research over 12 months produced little evidence of an original design
illustration.Through instinct, with limited reproduction m
etalwork available, a plan of works evolved, luckily the metal container had only been lined and was not missing, just crudely fastened into the frame.
To restore this piece we removed all new fittings, built up the height with a delicate spade foot incorporating a brass m
oulded capping. Supports were fitted for the metal tray and a decorative gallery was supplied and fitted. A small strengthening frame was fixed to underside to remove twist from lid. It was then cleaned and refurbished.
